WHY STUDY ABROAD?

Through study abroad experiences, you can experience new places and cultures, make friends from around the world, and gain a global perspective–while earning credits towards your degree. Pursuing your studies in a different country will allow you to develop highly-valued skills such as intercultural communication, foreign languages, adaptability, and problem-solving.

Each year, GGC offers summer, semester and academic year programs in countries around the world in collaboration with GGC faculty members, our international exchange partners, the University System of Georgia, and independent, third-party providers. Our programs allow you to learn about new cultures and societies, while complementing GGC's academic offerings and disciplines.

WHAT KINDS OF STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMS CAN I JOIN?

GGC FACULTY-LED PROGRAMS

Each year, GGC faculty create study abroad programs and serve as program directors abroad. These programs take place in different countries around the world and will allow you to earn course credits in many disciplines, including business, chemistry, biology, Spanish, political science, and more.

GGC EXCHANGE PROGRAMS

GGC's Exchange programs enable students to study for a semester or an academic year at a college or university with which GGC has an exchange agreement. This means that GGC students can study abroad for the same price as GGC's tuition and fees. Classes may be taught in English, the host language, or both. Courses taken through GGC exchanges or with GGC exchange partners count as transfer credit.

Exchange programs are a great option if you're looking for an immersive, flexible experience. You will have access to the same services and resources as full-time students at your host university, and many exchange students get involved with local student organizations and clubs while abroad.

USG GOES GLOBAL SUMMER PROGRAMS

Take your education farther and discover the world through a USG Goes Global study abroad program! Join a diverse community of students and faculty from other institutions as you explore popular destinations and earn academic credit toward your degree. Courses are taught by USG faculty and blend classroom, virtual, and experiential learning for a one-of-a-kind educational experience in another country.

Whether you’re seeking a shorter (2 weeks) or longer (4+ weeks) time abroad, you just started your degree or you’re approaching graduation, you’ve traveled a lot or never been on an airplane… USG Goes Global offers something for everyone!

NON-GGC/AFFILIATE STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMS

GGC's external study abroad partners enable students to study for a semester or an academic year in a wide range of countries and credit-bearing programs. This means that in addition to our GGC and GGC exchange programs, students can search and apply for a program that aligns with their disciplinary and regional interests. Classes may be taught in English, the host language, or both.
