About the Program

Explore the intersection of language and culture in the vibrant and culturally rich city of Cusco, Peru!

GGC study abroad program for Spanish in Peru is a cultural and linguistic exploration of the Spanish language and society in Cusco and Machu Picchu during spring break of 2024. Students will take classes in Spanish, participate in hands-on activities, live with host families, interact with locals, and activate their senses while experiencing their surroundings and while visiting historical and archeological sites and buildings. Some of these sites are worldwide famous, other are less well known.

Course Information

This spring break study abroad program allows participating students to earn the following GGC credits.

SOCI 3500: Social Inequality (3 credits)

OR

Students will take one of the Spanish courses listed below (for a total of 3 credit hours):
SPAN 1002, 2001, 2002: Elementary and Intermediate Spanish
SPAN 3010: Spanish Conversation and Composition
SPAN 4000: Special Topics in Spanish


Location

This program will take place in Cusco, Peru and its surrounding areas.

Itinerary may include visits to:

  • Visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas and archaeological sites

  • Visit and tour Machu Picchu

  • Visit alpaca farms and an animal shelter

  • Cooking class, food tasting, and dance class

  • Visit the Humedales de Huasao eco-park and reach the Cristo Blanco viewpoint

      AND....

  • Daily meals with host families

  • Interaction with locals, local professors and students, and international students

  • Opportunities for research, independent study projects, and networking

Program Cost: $2,910

**Please make note all payments are non-refundable upon receipt unless GGC cancels the study abroad program.
GGC tuition and fees are NOT included. Those must be paid before departure and must meet GGC deadlines for tuition and fee payments.
